China's Military Drills Near Taiwan Raise War Concerns.

Taiwan's Foreign Minister Joseph Wu has condemned China's military exercises around the island and warned that "they seem to be trying to get ready to launch a war against Taiwan." Wu expressed confidence in Taiwanese preparations and said that Chinese leaders will think twice before using force against Taiwan. The exercises appeared to mark the first time the Chinese navy has simulated strikes by aircraft carrier-based warplanes on Taiwan. The US has said that it would defend Taiwan militarily if China were to attack, though officials have insisted the US remains committed to its "one China" policy.
