Gandhi urges U.S. to support 'modern India'.

Indian opposition leader Rahul Gandhi criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his party for dividing the country and failing to address important issues such as unemployment and education. Speaking at an event in New York, Gandhi urged Indians in the US and back home to stand up for democracy and the Indian constitution. He also called for a stronger partnership between India and the US to offset China's influence and praised Mahatma Gandhi's model of non-violence. Gandhi is considered to be Modi's main challenger in the upcoming 2024 elections.
