Ray Smith III, a lawyer who represented President Donald Trump in litigation aimed at reversing Georgia’s 2020 election results, has indicated he may be a target of Atlanta-area District Attorney Fani Willis’ criminal probe. Smith’s attorney characterized Smith as “something between a target and witness” in Willis’ nearly completed investigation. The former election workers — Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss — want to subpoena and depose Smith as part of their lawsuit against Rudy Giuliani. Willis is casting a wide net as she nears the expected indictment phase of her investigation, which is believed to include Trump himself.
