The majority of respondents express dissatisfaction with U.S. laws and policies, believing they poorly reflect the views of the public on various issues such as the economy, government spending, gun policy, immigration, and abortion. The poll also highlights widespread political alienation and disillusionment with Congress, with 53% of Americans stating that it is doing a bad job of upholding democratic values. Overall, about half of the country believes that democracy is not functioning effectively, and both political parties are seen as failing to uphold democratic principles.
