Marcy Kaptur Secures Re-Election, Extends Record as Longest-Serving Woman in US House
TL;DR
Democratic Rep. Marcy Kaptur has won reelection in Ohio's battleground district against Republican Derek Merrin, as projected by the Associated Press. Kaptur, the longest-serving woman in the House, faced a tougher race due to recent redistricting that made her district more competitive for Republicans. Merrin, an Ohio state representative, focused on linking Kaptur to President Biden's policies, particularly on immigration, but ultimately did not succeed in unseating her.
