Merrick Garland defends special counsel in Trump documents case.

Attorney General Merrick Garland defended the integrity of special counsel Jack Smith, who is leading the investigation into former President Donald Trump's alleged mishandling of national security secrets and obstruction of the federal probe. Trump pleaded not guilty to the 37-count indictment and accused the Justice Department of being "weaponised". Garland reiterated that Smith was appointed to ensure "independence and accountability" and that any questions about the matter will have to be answered by their filings in court. Trump's campaign raised over $7m a day after his arraignment.
