Montana Republicans push for censure of transgender lawmaker over care ban debate.

Montana Republicans are calling for the censure of Democratic state Rep. Zooey Zephyr, a transgender lawmaker, for using "inappropriate and uncalled-for language" during a floor debate over amendments concerning a bill that bans medical care for transgender minors. Zephyr's comments were in response to the bill, which she believes is tantamount to torture. The Montana Freedom Caucus misgendered Zephyr in their call for censure. Montana Speaker of the House Matt Regier has refused to allow Zephyr to participate in debate for the remainder of the legislative session.
