Trans lawmaker silenced despite protests in Montana House.

Protests erupted outside the Montana state house after Republican leaders prevented a transgender lawmaker, Zooey Zephyr, from speaking on the house floor since Thursday. Zephyr was silenced after she told colleagues they would have "blood on their hands" if they banned gender-affirming medical care for trans youth. Her Republican colleagues have refused to let her speak until she apologizes. Zephyr's supporters argue that restricting gender-affirming care endangers trans youth, who suffer disproportionately from depression and suicidality. The bill banning gender-affirming care for minors is awaiting the governor's signature, but the ACLU and Lambda Legal have said they will challenge it in court.
