Transgender Montana lawmaker Zooey Zephyr sues GOP leadership over censure and removal from House floor.

Transgender Montana state Rep. Zooey Zephyr is suing House Speaker Matt Regier and state House Sergeant-at-Arms Bradley Murfitt after being barred from the House floor for speaking out against a bill that would ban gender affirming care for minors. Zephyr's attorneys from the ACLU argue that her exile violated her First Amendment rights and those of her constituents. Republicans moved against Zephyr after she declared in an April floor speech that those who supported the proposed bill would have "blood on [their] hands." Zephyr has no plans to back down, despite the retaliation from the GOP.
