Trump Debuts on a U.S. $1 Coin as Mint Celebrates 250th Anniversary

Donald Trump’s portrait adorns a new commemorative $1 coin released by the U.S. Mint to mark the 250th anniversary of the United States, making him the first living president depicted on U.S. currency in about a century. The coins cost $61 per roll of 25 or $154.50 for 100 and quickly went out of stock on the Mint’s site; they’re also sold via vending machines at the Mint store in Washington, D.C. The coins are copper-based (about 88.5% copper) with zinc, manganese and nickel and contain no gold, described by the Mint as a “once-in-a-generation” design for a milestone celebration.
