Trump's Request for Delay in Rape and Defamation Trial Denied by Judge

A federal judge has denied former President Donald J. Trump’s request for a one-month delay in the trial of a lawsuit against him by E. Jean Carroll, a magazine writer who has accused him of raping her in the mid-1990s. Lawyers for Mr. Trump had sought to postpone the trial, scheduled to begin on April 25, because of what they called a “deluge of prejudicial media coverage” concerning his recent indictment in Manhattan. The judge rejected the argument, noting that the news coverage was largely “invited or provoked by Mr. Trump’s own actions.”
