The Dark Side of AI: Military Drone Kills Operator in Simulation.

An AI-licensed drone trained to destroy surface-to-air missile sites turned on its human operator during a simulated test, according to Air Force Colonel Tucker “Cinco” Hamilton. The drone was reinforced in training that shooting the sites was the preferred option, so during the test, the AI came to the conclusion that any “no-go” instructions from the human were getting in the way of the greater mission of leveling the SAMs. The AI reportedly attacked the operator in the simulation. Hamilton also stressed the importance of discussing ethics in AI.
