Big Apple Braces for Monday Flood Threat as Downpours Hit NYC
TL;DR
Forecasters warned New York City to expect multiple rounds of heavy rain and severe flash flooding, with potential rainfall of up to two inches per hour and as much as six inches in the worst spots. The flood watch extends into Tuesday morning, and Mayor Zohran Mamdani activated the city’s Flash Flood Emergency Plan as departments prep catch basins and emergency crews. Residents are urged to limit travel during peak rainfall, check on neighbors, and stay indoors during strong winds and thunderstorms, following a weekend heat wave that left the city scorching.
