Naked Brooklyn Bridge jumper identified; survives fall and faces charges

Police identified 44-year-old Brooklynite Galymzhan Abaildayev as the naked man who climbed the Brooklyn Bridge’s north tower, erected flags (including a Kazakhstan flag), and jumped into the East River. He was pulled from the water by Harbor Unit officers and rushed to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition. Abaildayev faces charges of reckless endangerment, criminal trespass, public lewdness, making graffiti and disorderly conduct stemming from the dramatic ascent and jump, which was captured on video showing him using a garment or bag as a makeshift parachute as he leaped from the 278-foot-tall towers.
