Bay Area battered by historic storm with hurricane-force winds and power outages.

A powerful windstorm hit the Bay Area, causing power outages for over 200,000 PG&E customers, fallen trees, and flooding. Winds of up to 88 mph were recorded, and at least three people were seriously injured by fallen trees. Muir Woods and Alcatraz Island will be closed Wednesday for safety and clean-up. The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for much of the land surrounding San Francisco Bay, including almost all of San Francisco and portions of Alameda, Santa Clara, and San Mateo counties. Ferry service resumed to Vallejo, but other routes remained on hold due to unsafe conditions.
