Chicago hit by strong storms, bringing floods, tornado warnings and travel disruptions

Morning storms swept the Chicago area, triggering tornado warnings and flash flood advisories, with a ground stop at O’Hare and about 250 flights canceled or delayed. Roads flooded, trees down, and some shoppers and commuters sought shelter as officials urged limited travel; a Severe Thunderstorm Watch extended into parts of northwest Indiana, and crews worked to clear damage while authorities monitored conditions and advisories remained in effect.
