Offshore Fausto and Genevieve Stir Pacific Swells, Prompting Hawaii and SoCal Beach Warnings

Tropical Storm Fausto and Hurricane Genevieve, remaining offshore, will generate swells that trigger beach advisories for Hawaii and Southern California. Fausto’s close approach to Hawaii around July 28–29 will bring evolving conditions and a high surf warning on east-facing shores, while Genevieve’s swells will affect roughly 1,000 miles of coast from Baja to Southern California starting July 29, potentially producing 5–9 ft surf on north of Oceanside and 3–6 ft elsewhere, with strong rip currents and possible flooding during high tides. Authorities also note no other tropical development is expected through Aug 2.
