Record-breaking Heatwave Hits Miami-Dade County

The National Weather Service has issued the first-ever Excessive Heat Warning for Miami-Dade County, with an extreme combination of heat and humidity expected to send the heat index as high as 112 degrees. This is the highest heat index ever recorded in Miami. A Heat Advisory has also been extended for Broward County until Monday evening, with heat index values reaching up to 110 degrees. The NWS warns of potential heat-related illnesses and advises people to stay hydrated, seek air-conditioned spaces, and avoid prolonged sun exposure. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles, and strenuous activities should be rescheduled to cooler times of the day.
