Severe Weather Threatens Midwest This Weekend

A tornado watch has been issued for the Chicago Metro Area due to warm temperatures that have made the air buoyant and caused thunderstorms. Strong upper winds are increasing the risk of severe weather, with potential for damaging wind gusts and fast-moving storms. The Storm Prediction Center has elevated the risk level to a Level 4 in the southern suburbs and a Level 3 pushing Level 4 in the city. After the severe weather threat passes, there is potential for powerful non-t-storm winds capable of damage. Temperatures will drop to around 38 degrees by morning and will hold steady during the day Saturday, with spotty rain showers that may include some snowflakes. A second spring storm is expected to hit on Tuesday and Wednesday.
