On Hawaii Island, events are rescheduled or canceled (including a youth car show, volleyball exhibition, and a Saturday shutdown of solid-waste facilities), early releases from a school, rolling park closures, camping permits suspended, and UH campuses closing Aug. 15–16. Oahu sees a postponed Makalana Celebration, Saturday driver’s-license center shutdowns, a rescheduled Waipahu High School alumni event, and Duke’s Waikiki Ocean Mile Swim moved to Aug. 22. Other listed items include a canceled drag-strip event and various local activities. More advisories are expected as the storm nears.
