Thanksgiving Travel Alert: Extreme Winter Weather Threatens Millions

New York Governor Kathy Hochul has issued a warning about an upcoming winter storm that is expected to hit the state during Thanksgiving week, potentially causing freezing rain, snow accumulations, and high winds. While New York City may experience periodic rain on Tuesday, parts of the central and southern U.S. are expected to be hit by heavy rain and gusty winds. Two storms are predicted to merge and reach the East Coast, including NYC, on Tuesday and Wednesday. Governor Hochul has directed state agencies to be prepared and urged motorists and homeowners to prepare for the worst-case scenario. The busiest travel time is expected on Wednesday between 2-6 p.m., and AAA predicts that 55.4 million travelers will journey 50 miles or more from home over the Thanksgiving holiday.
