Unusual Black Bear Sightings in Florida's Urban and Coastal Areas

A young black bear was spotted swimming in the Gulf of Mexico and made its way to a busy beach in Destin, Florida, surprising beach-goers. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said it's not unusual for black bears to swim in the Gulf during this time of year as they search for a new home. The department warned people not to disturb young bears or any other wild animal and to secure food attractants to prevent bears from lingering in the area.
