Trump halts plan to clear Strait of Hormuz amid ceasefire talks

President Trump paused the Navy’s plan to clear a path through the Strait of Hormuz for commercial ships, halting air- and sea-based clearance for a short period at the request of Pakistan and other nations to see if a ceasefire can be finalized; interdictions of ships that have entered Iranian ports will continue, while more than 1,550 ships and about 22,500 mariners remain waiting, as diplomatic efforts to broker a ceasefire continue.
