Trump hints at possible role in brokering Ukraine peace in Putin call
TL;DR
Trump reportedly told Vladimir Putin he’s prepared to help end Russia’s war in Ukraine during a roughly hour-long phone call described as friendly; Putin congratulated him on his 80th birthday and suggested a desire for closer U.S.–Russia relations, as peace talks and Iran-related tensions dominate regional diplomacy. The leaders last met in Alaska in 2025, and Trump has floated a birthday celebration that could include a UFC-style event.
