Trump threatens Oman over control of the Strait of Hormuz

President Donald Trump warned that Oman will ‘behave just like everybody else, or we will have to blow them up’ if it collaborates with Iran to oversee the Strait of Hormuz, highlighting a gunboat-diplomacy approach as Washington disputes a (reported) Iran–Oman MOU to jointly manage the strait. Oman is a long-standing ally and mediator between Washington and Tehran; the White House called the Iran–Oman MOU report a fabrication. Critics called the threat reckless and noted it raises concerns under the UN Charter, amid broader U.S. push for Arab states to normalize ties with Israel and ongoing regional tensions.
