Neptune's Enigmatic Dark Vortex Revealed in Earth's Gaze

Scientists have observed a dark vortex on Neptune's atmosphere from Earth for the first time, using the Very Large Telescope's Multi Unit Spectroscopic Explorer (MUSE). The vortex, similar to the Great Red Spot on Jupiter, appears to be a result of a darkening of particles in the layer of hydrogen sulfide below the top layer of Neptune's atmospheric aerosol haze. The researchers also discovered a previously unseen bright cloud accompanying the vortex. These observations provide valuable insights into the nature of Neptune's atmospheric phenomena.
