Multiple asteroids set to pass dangerously close to Earth in April

The asteroid 2023 FM, estimated to be between 393 and 853 feet in diameter, will pass by Earth at a distance of roughly 1.8 million miles on April 6. The asteroid is classified as a potentially hazardous asteroid due to its size and close trajectory. NASA tracks thousands of potentially hazardous asteroids and is constantly monitoring and recalculating their orbits. If a large asteroid ever appears on course for a direct impact with Earth, redirecting asteroids with rocket impacts is a viable means of planetary defense, as demonstrated by NASA's Double Asteroid Redirection Test mission.
