Research conducted by Curtin University in Western Australia has found that Elon Musk's Starlink satellites are "leaking" radio signals that interfere with radio astronomy. These signals, originating from electronics on board the spacecraft, pose a serious source of interference for radio telescopes, which are designed to pick up faint signals from distant celestial objects. The issue is particularly problematic for the Square Kilometre Array (SKA), the largest radio observatory ever conceived, which is being constructed in Western Australia. While satellite operators are not breaking any rules, efforts are needed to mitigate the generation of these signals to preserve humanity's ability to explore and understand the universe.
