Nestled between Indianapolis and Evansville, Canyon Forest Nature Preserve is a 68-acre Indiana state nature preserve (managed by Sycamore Land Trust since 2013) featuring a 1.6-mile, hilly loop with seasonal waterfalls, fossil beds, and lush flora. Parking is limited to six vehicles, so arrive early or on weekdays, and expect mud and several stream crossings after rain. It's a peaceful day-trip oasis, especially in fall when the foliage lights up the landscape.
