"Climate Change Boosts MLB Home Runs, Study Shows"

Warming temperatures due to climate change have led to an increase of over 500 home runs in Major League Baseball since 2010, according to a study by Dartmouth College. The study examined over 100,000 MLB games played from 1962 to 2019 and found that every 1-degree Celsius increase in daily high temperature raises the number of home runs by nearly 2% for games played in open-air ballparks. The researchers estimated that Yankee Stadium experienced 27 more home runs from 2010-2019 due to historical global warming, while it was 24 extra for Citi Field. The study suggests that climate change will continue to influence the sport in the future.
