Rangers Chart New Course After Trading Captain Trouba to Ducks
TL;DR
The New York Rangers traded captain Jacob Trouba to the Anaheim Ducks, acquiring Urho Vaakanainen and a draft pick, to free up salary cap space. This move, part of GM Chris Drury's strategy, raises questions about replacing Trouba's defensive role and potential future trades, possibly targeting players like Brady Tkachuk. The Rangers are also considering their next captain, with Vincent Trocheck as a potential candidate. Additionally, a significant contract extension for goalie Igor Shesterkin is expected, providing financial stability for future team planning.
