Apple has been holding nationwide meetings with retail employees to discuss the risks of unionization and provide updates on bargaining efforts at the Apple Store in Towson, Maryland, where employees successfully unionized last year. Managers emphasized the risks of unionization and warned employees that the union representing Towson employees is requesting dues that could add up over time and result in termination for non-compliance. Apple has rejected proposals on things like switching from biweekly to weekly pay, using a third-party arbitrator, and scheduling changes. So far, two Apple Stores in the United States have voted in favor of unionization.
