Pokémon Pokopia Reaches 5 Million, Boosting Nintendo Shares

Nintendo shares rose about 7% after ‘Pokémon Pokopia’ sold over 5 million copies on the Switch 2, four months after its March launch and becoming the second-best-selling Switch 2 title. The milestone comes as investors monitor game sales amid memory-cost-driven price increases for the Switch 2. In the June quarter, Switch 2 sales were 3.82 million units (down 34.4% YoY), with Nintendo guiding to 16.5 million Switch 2 units for the year ending March 31, 2027. The company also announced Pokopia updates and two new Pokémon titles next year, plus a Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake. Despite headwinds, the stock has jumped about 26% in the last month but remains down around 16% for the year.
