IKEA and Xbox Launch YXSTABY: A Nine-Piece Collection Designed to Integrate Gaming into Living Rooms

Key points

• The YXSTABY collection consists of nine items, including a rolling TV stand, a thumbstick stool, a D-pad cushion, a mirrored display box, a gaming lounge chair, a monitor stand, a side table, and a laptop support.
• The rolling TV stand, priced at $149.99, is designed to move around the room, allowing users to rearrange furniture for different activities like yoga or socializing, rather than keeping the TV as the central focus.
• The thumbstick stool is derived from the 3D design files of the Xbox Wireless Controller, using the thumbstick's shape and grip texture to create a stable seat.
• The collection was co-developed by IKEA and Xbox designers, with the goal of making gaming a comfortable and personal part of everyday home life.
• The YXSTABY collection is available worldwide in IKEA stores and online, with availability varying by market.

Background

The YXSTABY collection was first announced in August 2026, with earlier coverage highlighting its focus on blending gaming aesthetics with practical home furniture. The collection was part of a broader trend of Xbox collaborations, including a 25th-anniversary gear lineup with partners like Razer and 8BitDo. The launch of YXSTABY in October 2026 marks the culmination of this collaboration, bringing the collection to market.

How outlets are covering it

Livingetc emphasizes the rolling TV stand as a key innovation, arguing it challenges the traditional layout of living rooms centered around a fixed TV. XBOX Wire highlights the collaborative design process and the translation of Xbox controller elements into functional furniture, such as the thumbstick stool. TechRadar and Windows Central focus on the full range of products and their availability, with TechRadar noting the collection's appeal beyond just gaming. All sources agree on the collection's goal of integrating gaming into everyday home life, but they emphasize different aspects: Livingetc focuses on the TV stand's impact on room layout, XBOX Wire on the design collaboration, and TechRadar and Windows Central on the product range and availability.

Why it matters

The YXSTABY collection represents a shift in how gaming is integrated into home life, moving away from dedicated gaming rooms and towards furniture that can be used for multiple activities. This reflects a broader trend of making gaming a more mainstream and accepted part of everyday life, with furniture designed to be functional and stylish for general use. The collaboration between IKEA and Xbox also highlights the growing influence of gaming culture on consumer products and home design.

What to watch

The YXSTABY collection is available in IKEA stores and online, with availability varying by market. Future developments may include additional collaborations between IKEA and Xbox, or other brands, to bring gaming-inspired furniture into the mainstream. The success of the YXSTABY collection could also influence the design of other home furniture, with a focus on flexibility and multi-functionality.
