FFXIV Lands on Switch 2 With August Release, FF7 Remake Crossover, and Evercold Deep-Dive

At the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival in Berlin, Square Enix announced the Nintendo Switch 2 release date for FFXIV (August 4, 2026) with Starter ($19.99), Complete ($59.99; $41.99 with pre-orders), and Collectors’ Edition ($139.99; $97.99 with pre-orders) plus Dawntrail pricing, and said pre-orders start today on Nintendo eShop with about a one-month free sub. The company also revealed Evercold, the sixth expansion launching January 2027, introducing the Bastion tank, new areas Naglfar, Hringhorni, and Fargarth, Auto Content Balancing, expanded character customization, and Character Action Skins; an Evangelion: Ghosts of Desire teaser and Mahiro Maeda joining the project; and a Final Fantasy VII Remake Trilogy crossover raid series Beyond the Lifestream. Additional updates include a Switch 2 version, a new chocobo system overhaul in Patch 8.1, a Keybound Brawler typing mini-game, and same-region matching expansion (Patch 7.5x), plus an Evercold Collector’s Bundle with physical items and a digital Collector’s Edition (Crystal Skyltborg, Vallhallar Odin, Entreat Crystal).
