Fortnite's Creator Revenue Share and Future with Unreal Engine

Epic Games has launched Creator Economy 2.0, which will give creators 40% of net revenue from most real-money purchases, including Epic. Creators can sign up through a portal, and those with existing islands who join on or before April 21st will be paid for engagement dating back to March 1st. The move is aimed at encouraging more custom Fortnite islands and fending off competition from Roblox. Additionally, Epic is introducing a free public beta of Unreal Engine for Fortnite, which will bring most of Unreal Engine 5's tools to creators making islands, games, and other experiences inside the shooter.
