TL;DR

To achieve the true ending in Persona 3 Reload, players must spare Ryoji on New Year's Eve, leading to a final battle against Nyx's Avatar at the top of Tartarus. Killing Ryoji results in an alternate ending, but not the most satisfying one. The main character's death on the school rooftop is an unavoidable outcome, with no decision or quest altering this fate. Rumors suggest that Persona 3 FES' playable epilogue, The Answer, may be added to Persona 3 Reload as DLC.
