Naughty Dog has announced that it has canceled development on The Last of Us Online, the multiplayer component of the popular franchise, in order to focus on developing future single-player games. The studio cited the need to allocate all its resources to post-launch content for years to come, which would have hindered the development of new single-player titles. Naughty Dog confirmed that it has multiple ambitious single-player games in the works but did not provide further details. The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered is set to release on January 19, 2024, for PlayStation 5.
