San Francisco artist-researcher Olivia Tai collected anonymous AI-related confessions from people in parks and malls for her project What We Tell AI, posting notes to a site. The notes reveal personal uses and anxieties around AI—ranging from cloning a ex’s voice to AI-written wedding vows and dating bots—serving as ethnographic snapshots that spark dialogue about AI’s role in everyday life. The project expanded from San Francisco to New York and plans for Mexico, Australia, and China, emphasizing the emotional and social dimensions of AI rather than data-driven conclusions.
