Astronomers Uncover Ancient 8 Billion-Year-Old Radio Signal

Astronomers have discovered an eight billion-year-old radio signal, known as FRB 20220610A, which emitted more energy than the sun does in three decades. Unlike most fast radio bursts (FRBs) that last mere microseconds, scientists were able to precisely determine the source of this burst, which is believed to have originated from two or three merging galaxies forming new stars. FRBs can potentially help measure the unaccounted matter between galaxies, shedding light on the missing matter mystery in the universe.
