Kroger Agrees to $1.4 Billion Opioid Settlement Across Multiple States

Kroger, the parent company of Ralphs, will pay California $122 million as part of a $1.37 billion settlement over allegations of inadequate oversight in dispensing opioids at its pharmacies. The funds, starting to be distributed in 2025, will support opioid abatement efforts. Kroger will also enhance monitoring and reporting of suspicious opioid prescription activities. This settlement is part of California's broader $4 billion opioid abatement fund to address the crisis.
