Wagner Group's Presence in Bakhmut Remains Uncertain Amid Threats and Backtracking.

The head of Russia's Wagner mercenary group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, has announced that his fighters will not withdraw from Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine after receiving promises of all the arms needed to capture the city. Prigozhin had previously threatened to pull out his forces due to a lack of ammunition and "useless and unjustified" losses. The battle for Bakhmut has been the most intense of the conflict, costing thousands of lives on both sides in months of grinding warfare.
