SAG-AFTRA and Studios Hit Roadblock, Negotiations Suspended

Negotiations between the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) and the actors union SAG-AFTRA have been suspended, with both parties stating that the gap between them is too great. SAG-AFTRA has been on strike since July 14, seeking pay raises, protections regarding artificial intelligence, and a greater share of streaming revenue. The studios claim that SAG-AFTRA's demands, including a viewership bonus, would create an economic burden of $800 million per year. The union accuses the studios of using "bully tactics" and misrepresenting the cost of their proposal.
