Doctors used large breast implants as a temporary solution to keep 34-year-old Davey Bauer alive while he fought off a severe lung infection, allowing him to eventually undergo a double lung transplant. Surgeons removed his infected lungs and used breast implants to temporarily support his heart and maintain blood flow. The implants were replaced with donor lungs a few days later. Despite the risks involved, the innovative procedure was successful, and Bauer is on track for a full recovery.
