Caribbean Princess Norovirus Outbreak Sicks 115 Aboard Florida-bound Cruise, CDC Says

The Caribbean Princess, which departed Port Everglades on April 28 and is due back at Port Canaveral on May 11, has more than 100 people ill with norovirus; as of May 7, 102 passengers and 13 crew members reported symptoms like diarrhea and vomiting. The CDC notes norovirus is highly contagious and spreads via contaminated food, water, surfaces, or sick individuals. Princess Cruises has increased cleaning and isolated affected passengers and crew. The illness accounts for about 3.3% of the ship’s 3,116 passengers. Norovirus is a leading cause of foodborne illness in the U.S.
