"Core Symptoms of Long COVID Identified in Recent Studies"

A study published in JAMA has identified a core list of 12 symptoms of long COVID, including loss of smell/taste and post-exertional malaise. The study surveyed 9,764 participants and assigned each symptom a score, with a score of 12 being a reasonable cutoff for determining if someone had long COVID. The list could help direct further research, identify different subtypes of long COVID, and develop diagnostic tools, like biomarkers. However, the list needs to be validated in further studies.
