Kerala state in India has declared containment zones and implemented strict isolation rules following the death of two people from the Nipah virus, a rare and deadly brain-damaging viral disease. This is the fourth outbreak of Nipah virus in the state since 2018. The virus, which spreads from animals to humans, is primarily transmitted by fruit bats, pigs, and human-to-human contact.
