China's Foreign Minister Holds Talks with US Secretary of State, Hints at Challenges for Xi-Biden Summit

China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi has suggested that the road to a summit between President Xi Jinping and President Joe Biden will not be smooth, following recent discussions between Wang and top U.S. officials. While efforts have been made to salvage deteriorating ties between the two countries, Wang emphasized that the journey to the summit will not be on "autopilot" and that the U.S. needs to show "sufficient sincerity". Both sides have expressed the need to maintain dialogue despite existing differences and issues to be resolved. Discussions also covered military interaction, finance, science and technology, China's investment environment, and the Middle East and Ukraine crises.
