"Mediators secure release of additional hostages, extending Israel-Hamas truce"

Mediators in Qatar are working to extend the temporary truce between Israel and Hamas for another 48 hours to facilitate the release of more captives and provide additional aid to Gaza. At least 10 Israelis are expected to be freed by Hamas in exchange for 30 Palestinians held in Israeli prisons. Israel believes that 161 hostages are still being held by Hamas. The families of released Israeli hostages have shared stories of captivity, including lack of medical treatment and malnourishment. The United Nations reports that aid reaching Gaza during the truce is insufficient to meet the extensive needs.
