Russia dismisses the weekend talks in Saudi Arabia, which aimed to establish principles for a peaceful end to the war in Ukraine, as a futile Western attempt to rally support from the Global South for Ukraine. The meeting, attended by senior officials from around 40 countries, was part of Ukraine's efforts to gain support beyond its core Western backers. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov criticized the meeting, stating that it reflected the West's doomed efforts to mobilize the international community in support of Ukraine's proposed settlement formula.
